Au Pair Programs

Live with a European family, improve your language skills, experience a new culture, and earn a monthly pocket allowance — fully supported by MCL.

 

The Au Pair program is a unique cultural exchange arrangement: you live with a host family in Europe, assist with childcare and light household tasks, attend language classes, and receive accommodation, meals, and a monthly pocket allowance in return.

MCL handles every aspect of your Au Pair journey — from finding you a compatible host family to preparing your visa application, briefing you on what to expect, and staying available throughout your placement for any concerns.

Au Pair programs are open to young Kenyans aged 18–26. They are an excellent way to experience European life, build language skills, and open doors to further opportunities — including future study or work placements.

HOW IT WORKS

Your journey with us

  • Initial application

You complete a profile form covering your personality, childcare experience, hobbies, and destination preference.

 
  • Host family matching

We present you with compatible host family profiles. You exchange introductory messages and may have a video call before agreeing.

 
  • Au Pair agreement

We review the Au Pair agreement with you to ensure working hours, pocket money, days off, and responsibilities are clearly set out.

 
  • Visa application

We prepare your Au Pair visa application, compiling all documents including the host family letter and program details.

 
  • Pre-departure briefing

A one-on-one session covering travel, what to pack, how your first week will look, and what to do if problems arise.

 
  • Arrival & integration

Your host family collects you. MCL checks in within your first two weeks to make sure the placement is going smoothly.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Is this service right for you?

IDEAL FOR

  • Kenyans aged 18–26 with a genuine interest in cultural exchange
  • Those with some childcare experience or strong enthusiasm for working with children
  • Non-smokers (most host families specify this)
  • Those able to commit to 6–12 months abroad

NOT SUITABLE IF

  • Those above 26 (most Au Pair visas cap at 26)
  • Those seeking paid employment (Au Pair pocket money is not a salary)
  • Candidates with no flexibility on working with children
  • Those expecting luxury accommodation (you live as a family member, not a hotel guest)
